About US

Biggleswade Community Safety Group  is a group of volunteers who help promote community safety within our town and to determine and deliver strategies for the reduction of crime and anti-social behaviour to improve the quality of life for residents.

Our Community Safety Group (BCSG) covers Streetwatch, Speedwatch, Dogwatch and Neighbourhood Watch, we are the only group in Bedfordshire that has everything under one umbrella.  We work very closely with other agencies such Bedfordshire Police, Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue, Central Bedfordshire Council, Biggleswade Town Council and other partner agencies to help support activities to reduce crime or the fear of crime. We hold regular meetings with agencies.

Our  members  also participate in public engagement events where we offer crime prevention advice and safety/security items to Biggleswade residents.  We also run volunteer recruitment events and assist the Town Council with event such as Remembrance Day Parade and the Christmas lights switch on.  We also assist the police with special operation days to tackel antisocial behaviour, knife sweeps etc.

We are a member of the Community Alcohol Partnership which is multi-agency group to tackle the problem of underage drinking and associated anti-social behaviour within the town.  We work closely with Safer Central.

In 2017 our group was awarded the Star of Aragon Award for the “Best Community Project” for our work over recent years in Biggleswade
