Biggleswade Community Safety Group is a group of volunteers who help promote community safety within our town and to determine and deliver strategies for the reduction of crime and anti-social behaviour to improve the quality of life for residents.
Our Community Safety Group (CSG) covers Streetwatch, Speedwatch and Neighbourhood Watch, we are the only group in Bedfordshire that has everything under one umbrella. We work very closely with other agencies such Bedfordshire Police, Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue, Central Bedfordshire Council, Biggleswade Town Council and other partner agencies to help support activities to reduce crime or the fear of crime.
Our members participate in public engagement events where we give out crime prevention advice and our purse bells to vulnerable of the public members. These range from Community Day such as "We love Biggleswade" to assisting in Operation Beneke where we aimed to address community concerns.
We are a member of the Community Alcohol Partnership which is multi-agency group to tackle the problem of underage drinking and associated anti-social behaviour within the town. We assist Bedfordshire Police for switch-on of Christmas light and Annual Remembrance Parade
In 2017 our group was awarded the Star of Aragon Award for the “Best Community Project” for our work over recent years in Biggleswade
