We are looking for volunteers to help us with two types of activities:
1. With the Police activities we do – this includes Street Watch, Speed Watch and Dog Watch.
2. Community work - we also want to offer people the chance to develop new skills and confidence whilst helping the community of Biggleswade – we are looking to introduce a graffiti cleaning team this year, or would you be interested in joining our events group helping to run our events, helping promote safety issues on social media channels or gain experience of managing a voluntary group.
We also work with the local Neighbourhood Watch and Shop Watch groups.
Some activities require you to go out to join activities with others – for example we need a minimum of 2 people to do a Street Watch Patrol and 3 people to run a Speed Watch session and we have quarterly group meetings and some meetings with other groups doing similar activities.
There is a commitment to the Police to agree to do 2 hours per month of these activities, (to pay back for the costs of supplying equipment, training and coordination activities). Other activities can be done remotely– so if you are a parent or a carer, this may be a way you could get involved in supporting our work to promote safety online, help with funding bids and reporting issues that our patrols report that need fixing. We have the following vacant posts at the moment:
· Street Watch Coordinator (Volunteer)
· Vice Chair for BCSG (Volunteer)
· Graffiti project Coordinator (Volunteer)
· Funding Bids Coordinator (Volunteer)
· Website and social media Coordinator (Volunteer)
The last two could be done remotely; the first three need to be a mix of attending sessions and following up on the issues raised afterwards.
